I recently completed a comprehensive UK and European tour with Sanctuary
recording artist Morrissey. In the fall of 2005 Morrissey's latest
album Ringleader of the Tormentors was recorded in Rome with legendary
producer Tony Visconti. I co-wrote 2 songs for those sessions, and
played keyboards, percussion, guitar, trumpet and trombone. In 2004
I did the same for Morrissey on the world tour in support of the
platinum You Are The Quarry. That tour featured worldwide festival and
headline dates, including the Glastonbury Festival and the KROQ Inland
Invasion. Other recordings with Morrissey include You Are the Quarry
deluxe edition, Live at Earls Court, the Let Me Kiss You, Redondo Beach,
and I Have Forgiven Jesus import singles, and the BBC-John Peel sessions
as well as a live concert DVD, Who Put the M In Manchester. Our 2006
summer festival schedule includes trips to Italy, Turkey, Germany,
Holland, Croatia, Finland, Portugal, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria,
France, and Spain.
Prior to 2004, I was the musical director/ keyboardist for Grammy winning Epic artist Macy Gray.
We had the good fortune to open for David Bowie for 6 weeks at the end of 2003. I'm still collaborating
with Macy as a writer and I contributed original material to Macy's February 2007 release, Big, produced by
Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas. We also recently recorded original material for ABC's Desperate
Housewives soundtrack and tracked the theme song to the Heather Graham sitcom Emilys Reasons
Why Not. Occasionally I have the opportunity to play live gigs with Macy as well, although most of
my energy since 2004 has been devoted to Morrissey.
I've also toured and recorded with a pair of Vanessas, platinum Interscope recording
artist Vanessa Carlton and Polydor artist Vanessa Brown. For both these artists I played
keyboards and guitar. At various times I have shared the stage with Mariah Carey, Melissa
Etheridge, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Ruben Studdard, Dave Navarro and Camp Freddy, RuPaul, Ben Lee,
Kimberly Locke, Anthony Rapp, Sally Kellerman, Jean Smart, Neil Patrick Harris, Scott Record, and
Dan Finnerty and the Dan Band.
In recent years, I have increasingly been working in the studio in a variety of capacities,
as a session keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist, as a mixer, and as a songwriter and producer.
I've constructed my own studio in Burbank and I've been lucky enough to write and/or produce tracks
for Morrissey, Macy Gray, Jeremy Gregory, Ben Lee, Michael Orland of American Idol, and Angie Hart of
Frente. As a film composer, I've scored the Sundance Channel film Paradise, Nebraska, the award winning
short-film Beat, and the childrens TV pilot The Mighty Me Superhero Hour. I also wrote a song for the HBO
feature film Girl and contributed music to the NBC sitcom Men Behaving Badly. And I've performed on
Third Rock from the Sun, Grounded for Life, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I was born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. I went to John Carroll University in Ohio where the Jesuit priests are still skeptical that there is any kind of living to be made in music. I won a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the University of Waikato New Zealand in 1991. I also received a Masters Degree from Syracuse University in 1993. I moved to Los Angeles in 1993 to pursue music.
My wife Mandy and I have two boys, Travis age 2 and Justin 3 months old. We live in Toluca Lake.
Travis likes walking around the block and Justin likes breastfeeding.
