Italian Headlines

We've had a short series of Italian headline dates sandwiched around the usual summer festivals in Europe. Morrissey selected the actual venues and the places we played were simply amazing. Check out the rest of this posting to see them all. Now we are off to Barcelona and back on the festival track with Benicassim on July 22nd.

First was the Villa Manin in Udine, a beautiful estate where Napoleon once lived.

Then near Roma, we played on the site of a 2nd century A.D. ruin ...an entire city called Ostia Antica.

And for our final date in Milan, we played at the Villa Arconati, a magnificently shabby 17th century manor that has fallen into a massive state of disrepair.

Montreux Jazz Festival

On July 11, we played at the Montreux Jazz Festival with the Scottish band Sons & Daughters opening. The backdrop is gorgeous, beautiful snow-capped alpine mountains hovering over Lac Leman, which is a refreshing cool escape from the Swiss summer heat.

We played in the Miles Davis Hall and Miles is one of the names commonly associated with Montreux. But the festival has become a celebration of all different styles of music, not just jazz. The picture is a statue of Freddie Mercury, one of Montreux's most famous residents. You can't get less jazz than that.
